Backup your Data

TASK: Run a backup of your computer! Make sure you include your important files, contacts, password manager database, financial information and photos. Ideally keep a backup at home for ready use and one at a trusted location far from your home to provide some redundancy.

WHY: There are many situations where you may need a backup: computer crashes, software updates that fail, your own mistakes, hacks, ransomware, malware etc. Having a backup can save you a great deal of time if something goes wrong. It also allows you to experiment with new software tools and more private setups. Ideally you would encrypt your backups using a tool like Veracrypt. More on encrypting backups on another day.
