TASK: Nowadays much of what you buy wants to connect to your home wifi. This may include fitness trackers, fridges, water dispensers, gaming consoles, robot hoovers etc. All of these represent attack vectors. Try and not connect these devices or if you really have to then only to a section of your wifi that does not have access to the internet perhaps.

WHY: The more items and accounts you connect the more information is collected on you. The advantage is that you can say start your robot hoover at home from anywhere. But now you have a device, with a camera on that can be accessed over the internet moving around your house. This is a decent article on connecting home devices.
