Smart Meters are Too Smart

TASK: Whenever you hear the word 'smart', think surveillance tool. You can monitor your electricity usage manually or via a system such as OWL that works in house and does not share data. Probably a more private way to go.

WHY: Even though smart meters can show you valuable information about your electricity and gas usage sharing this information with your provider lets them know about your lifestyle. They can see when you go on holiday or are not at home, they can draw conclusions about how many people live there etc. Worse they could police you and stop your supply if you go over or even under certain limits.
